I’m no great photographer but I always have real places in mind when I write. Asked why I chose Edinburgh as the setting for my first novel, A Sorry Affair, it’s simple!

It’s a city I know well and love with a passion but the main reason, and perhaps I’m biased here, but I think it’s one of the most romantic cities in the world- forget Paris and Venice, give me Edinburgh any day. I mention a few areas of Edinburgh in the novel-Arthur’s Seat (obviously), Grey Friar’s Bobby, Stockbridge and The Bailie (an old haunt!) to name but a few. The Castle isn’t specifically mentioned, but you can’t mention Edinburgh and leave it out.
